Im Ready Jet will forever hold a unique place Breeders Crown history.
The daughter of French sire Quaker Jet is the first to compete the series’ “Triple Crown” – winning titles at the ages of two, three and four.
The Anton Golino-trained and Yabby Dam Farms-bred and raced Im Ready Jet completed the set of three in the Group 2 $30,000 Breeders Crown Championship for 4yo trotting mares, 2240m, at Melton on Friday, November 19.
It is an astonishing feat given the Breeders Crown began at Bendigo in 1998, making this season the 24th running of the Australasian series for pacers and trotters.
Im Ready Jet, driven by Jack Laugher, was at her stunning best in claiming her third Breeders Crown title.
She found the lead and went on to run her rivals off their legs.
She rated 1:57.5 in winning by 23.6m – running her 400m sectionals in 29.5, 29.4, 28.3 and 29.3 seconds.
Her Breeders Crown journey began at Maryborough on August 15, 2019.
Im Ready Jet took a while to get going as two-year-old.
The first foal out of NZ-bred mare Im Ready Set to go to the races, she ran third on debut in Vicbred Super Series heat at Maryborough to another daughter of Quaker Jet in Dizzysjet.
She finished out the placings in her next three runs, but then on the first day of the Redwood Carnival tasted success for the first time.
She rated 2:2.0 to put her on course for the Breeders Crown.
It was in that series that she stamped herself as something special.
Im Ready Jet won her heat and then blitzed her rivals by 20m in the final at Melton on August 24.
It was then time for a break.
She returned early in the new year and complete her two-year-old season with victory in the Need For Speed Princess.
Her Breeders Crown three-year-old campaign was a little more demanding.
Im Ready Jet had to settle for second in her heat at Maryborough on November 12, 2020.
She would also be tested in the final, made to work hard to get to the lead and then test in front before triumphing.
Im Ready Jet has stepped up into open age racing in 2021 and in the lead up the Breeders Crown produced a couple of wins and several minor placings in group features, including a second in the group 1 Australasian Trotting Championship by the breast of margins.
Kept fresh going into the Breeders Crown, it was Im Ready Jet at her best when it counted.
